SEOUL, Mar. 22 (Yonhap) -- The Korean Film Archive will hold a special cinematographic exhibition, under the title of “Movie and Space: London,” to screen works set in London, England, the country’s sole film archive announced Tuesday.
The exhibition will feature 20 films, including works by British pre-eminent filmmakers David Lean and Alfred Hitchcock.
Lean’s masterpieces “Great Expectations” and “Oliver Twist,” each released in 1946 and 1948, are scheduled to be screened, along with Hitchcock’s four films, including the silent thriller film “The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog” (1927), “Stage Fright” (1950), “The Man Who Knew Too Much” (1956), and “Frenzy” (1972).
In addition, the 1964 musical comedy film “A Hard Day’s Night,” starring the iconic English rock band the Beatles, as well as “The Queen,” a British biographical drama film about Queen Elizabeth II, and the mega-hit rom-com “Notting Hill,” which was also set in London,” will be screened.
Several films which never hit the local theaters, including “Alfie” (1966), “Long Good Friday” (1979), and “Exhibition” (2013), will be available for the first time along with the 4K version of “Naked” (1993) and “Night and the City” (1950).
The exhibition will be opened at Cinema Tech KOFA in Mapo-gu from Mar. 28 to Apr. 21. Detailed movie showtimes will be available at the official website of the Korean Film Archive (www.koreafilm.or.kr).
