Broadway musical 'KPOP' announces additional cast of 3 K-pop idols

NEW YORK, Apr. 5 (Yonhap) – A number of S. Korean idols and actors have been cast in “KPOP,” a Broadway musical under the theme of K-pop.

According to the Korean Cultural Center New York on Apr. 4(U.S. Time), producers Forbes and Joey Parnes announced the additional cast for the upcoming musical “KPOP,” which includes a vocal duo KEEMBO’s Kim Bo-hyung from K-pop girl group Spica, Lee Min-young(Min) from girl group Miss A, and Kevin Woo(Kevin) from boy group U-KISS.

The production team has previously announced at the press conference that Luna from K-pop girl group f(x) will lead the musical.

Besides, it has confirmed the cast of Julia Abueva, Will Brill, Major Curda, Hwang Joo-min, Jung Jin-woo, Kang Ji-ho, Keum Mi-yeon, James Kho, Eddy Lee, Jully Lee, Lee Hae-chan, Abraham Lim, Kate Mina Lin, Aubie Merrylees, Patrick Park, and John Yi.

According to the production team, sixteen members of the company will be making their Broadway debuts.

The musical “KPOP,” the first musical on Broadway about Korean culture and the popularity of the K-pop musical genre, will each hold a preview on Oct.13 as well as its first performance on Nov. 20 at the Circle in the Square Theatre in New York, United States.

“KPOP,” conceived by Jason Kim and Woodshed Collective, had a sold-out run at Off Broadway in September, 2017, and has won a number of awards, including the Richard Rodgers Awards.
