SEOUL, Apr. 17 (Yonhap) -- South Korean red-hot rookie girl group IVE has achieved another milestone with the act’s very first full-length album “I’ve IVE” becoming a million seller on the sixth day of its release.

Per Hanteo Chart, the group's first LP, which the group rolled out on April 10, raked in 1,082,000 copies as of Sunday. IVE became the third K-pop girl group to sell more than 1 million copies in the first week of release, following the chart supremos BLACK PINK and aespa.

Album sales on the first week of release are commonly reckoned an essential indicator of an artist’s popularity as it reflects the devotion and purchasing power of its fandom. In addition to album sales, IVE also had its title track “I AM” off its first LP as well as its pre-released track “Kitsch” to top the South Korean leading music platform Melon’s Top 100 chart.

During the press showcase event held on April 10 to commemorate the release of the new album, Ahn Yoo-jin, the leader of this six-piece group, said, “We had our three single albums receive so much love and support that we would like to wish for the same love for our upcoming full-length album,” adding, “We also would like to give thanks for calling us the leading fourth generation girl group. We will try harder to grow as a group that lives up to the expectation.”
