The Sungboksa Temple, located at the foot of Toham Mountain in the east of Gyeongju, the ancient capital of Silla, was built in memory of King Wonseong(r.758~798) of the Unified Silla Kingdom. The temple was ruined a long time ago, and only these twin pagodas remain there to show the prosperous days. The eastern pagoda is 4.3m tall and the western pagoda 3.2m tall.
