SEOUL, Oct. 11 (Yonhap) -- As novelist Han Kang (54) became the first South Korean writer to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, various prominent figures, including members of the group BTS, extended their congratulations.

On the 10th, BTS member V shared a news article about Han Kang’s Nobel Prize win on his personal social media account, writing, "I read Human Acts while in the military. Congratulations." BTS member RM also shared the same article, adding a crying face emoji and a heart emoji, expressing his joy and emotion.

Other celebrities, including actors Ryu Jun-yeol, Moon Ga-young, Ok Ja-yeon, and Kim Min-ha from the Apple TV series Pachinko, also shared the news on their social media, offering their congratulations.

Singer HYNN (real name Park Hye-won), who was deeply moved by the line "Even if I am tainted, I will only offer the white" from Han Kang's novel The White Book—a sentiment that even inspired her stage name—joined in the celebrations as well.

HYNN expressed her joy through her agency, stating, "Through that line from The White Book, I made a commitment as an individual and as a musician to remain sincere and pure in my music, no matter the challenges or wounds I face." She added, "I was truly delighted to hear about the author’s Nobel Prize win today. It makes me even prouder to know that a Korean work has touched the world with the author's unique perspective and insight."

Online, netizens expressed their pride and admiration, leaving comments such as "I thought the Nobel Prize was something distant, but I feel so proud," "This is an achievement that will go down in history," and "I'll be buying her books to read."

In celebration of Han Kang's award, a Naver open chat room titled "2024 Nobel Literature Prize" attracted approximately 58,000 visitors throughout the day, all eager to share in the momentous occasion.
