SEOUL, Apr. 21 (Yonhap) -- Boy band BTS’s global hit song “Dynamite” has been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), according to the agency BTS, Thursday.
“Dynamite,” released in August 2020, earned double platinum for surpassing 500,000 cumulative downloads.
The association certifies songs based on the cumulative number of downloads, ranging from gold (over 100,000 downloads) to platinum (over 250,000 downloads), double platinum (over 500,000 downloads), and million (over 1,000,000 downloads).
In February, “Dynamite” earned a diamond certification for surpassing 500 million streams. This record was made only after 529 days of its release. It is the shortest period since the association started certifying the streaming category.
BTS also earned a platinum and gold certification for “Butter” and “Permission To Dance,” respectively.
