Kim So-hyun·Na In-woo's 'The River Where the Moon Rises,' to be watched on Japan's NHK BS

SEOUL, Sep. 3 (Yonhap) -- KBS 2TV series “The River Where the Moon Rises” starring Kim So-hyun·Na In-woo will be aired on NHK BS in Japan.

As K-contents are gaining more popularity on OTT platforms, there are raised attentions on whether Hallyu will be reinitiated.

NHK BS will send out the drama’s first episode at 9 p.m. on Oct. 31, according to the broadcast industry Friday.

The series depicted princess Pyeonggang, to whom Goguryeo Kingdom means everything, and general On Dal, who made his love into a history, struggling to protect their love and the kingdom not giving in to their fates.

The production initially Kim and Ji-soo for the leading roles but Na took over Ji-soo’s place as he dropped out for being accused for his bullies in his school day.

Fortunately, the series safely and successfully made it to the end recording two-digit viewer ratings.

In the 48th Korean Broadcasting Awards held on Sep. 2, the series received the Best TV Drama Award, and the leading actress Kim won the Best Actress Award taking the honor of becoming the winner of 3 awards as well.

The series is planning to enter for the International Emmy Awards in November as well. The prepared entry is a re-shot version with the substitute actor, Na.

The International Emmy Awards, which will hold its 49th event this year, was found in 1973 to introduce foreign remarkable programs to the American watchers. The international ceremony for foreign TV programs is regarded as one of the three global program-awards with Banff World Media Festival and Monte-Carlo Television Festival.
