SEOUL, April 14 (Yonhap) -- The Tiger Forest at the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum will reopen on the 15th after three months of renovation.
The Tiger Forest has been closed since January for reasons including the tiger's health and renovations of other facilities.
Within this period, the arboretum created a new tiger activity zone in the tiger forest and also added other facilities including various behavior enrichment facilities and a tiger shelter.
In line with the reopening of the Tiger Forest, the two tigers (Tae-beom and Mugung) that have been brought in from the amusement park in Korea, Everland, in October of last year are being shown to the public, grabbing the attention of the people.
The arboretum is planning to hold a "special event to welcome the opening of the tiger forest" for three days from the day of the reopening.
On the 15th, the first day, a tiger refreshment set will be given to the first 102 (bakedu) visitors and the tiger tram will be free during the event period.
Additionally, various experience events will be taken place including making one's own tiger membership card, borrowing the tiger picnic set, and many more.
The Baekdudaegan National Arboretum has been operating the Tiger Forest since the May of 2018. Currently, six Baekdu Mountain tigers are living there.
Director of the Baekdudaegan National Arboretum, lee Jong-gun said, "We will do our best so that the Tiger Forest will serve as a facility based on animal welfare and become the center of the conservation acts for the Mount Baekdu Tigers"
