SEOUL January 26 (Yonhap) -- “To be honest I do not listen to a lot of ballad music, and I am not sure whether I am good at singing ballad tracks, however I have spent a long time experiment with the sounds until I found the rightful band sound.” K-pop superstar group Super Junior’s Yesung, a main vocalist returned released his first solo album “Snsory Flows” on January 25. Unlike the majority of expectation where he would select a ballad track as a title for his first solo album, instead Yesung’s first solo album withholds “Small Things,” which is a band track as the title.
Throughout the interview conducted recently in the headquarter of SM Entertainment in Seongsu district, artist addressed “Three of the vocalists within Super Junior came out with their solo albums with ballad tracks, therefore I looked back at my strong side and decided to free myself from one specific genre,” adding “Moreover, I really wanted to find my own color.”
Surprisingly Yesung’s solo album has a different vibe from the tracks artist is mainly known for such as “Here I am,” “It has to be you” which are both ballad tracks.
Starting with the title track “Small Things,” the album "Sensory Flows" withholds total of 10 tracks within the genre of Pop, R&B, which consists of “Beautiful” which encompasses his thoughts and feelings he experienced throughout his travel, “Like US,” “All Night Long,” “HO” which features K-pop boy group NCT’s Mark and more
The title track “Small Things” is an indie pop genre of music which depicts how small little feelings and thoughts clustered up and created something grand.
Compared to his previously released tracks such as “Pink Magic” and more he developed much more in depth emotions throughout the tracks, however by filling his chorus with falsetto, Yesung managed to lighten up the track. Addictive guitar lines, and harmonics sounds added to the majestic atmosphere of the track while providing “Easy Listening” to its audiences.
“I really liked band music, to a point where I have participated in a rock group for seven months even after I joined SM Entertainment,” adding “I have included band music since my first solo mini albums, however I have gotten the motivation and currage to place it as my title track for the solo album, that is how the title track came to be.” addressed Yesung throughout his interview conducted regarding his solo album.
Moreover, artist addressed “I also wanted my title track to be little bit relaxed track,” adding “When I heard the track, I knew it was the right track because I fell in love with the sounds immediately. The one who produced the track is my secret card, I have really kept him to myself however we are such close friends now.”
“Throughout the process of creating the album, I looked back and thought to myself, maybe its right to release a ballad track, however five to six teams within top ten world well known groups are bands, for instance Coldplay, Paul McCartney, Rex Orange County, and more.” announced Yesung throughout his interview.
Throughout the process of coming up with his first full length album, Yesung participated in every process of the production from the concept, selection of the tracks, album fonts and more. Yesung contacted the vocal of the band “Wave To Earth” Kim Daniel because he enjoyed tracks he produced.
The reason how Yesung, who acquired possibly every title as an artist could want from the grand prize from the music award, concerts abroad, to more started to focus on small little happiness triggered out interest.
“My life’s Moto is to capture the small little things that provide us with happiness,” adding “I personally believe human are not always surrounded by unfortunate events, instead we have such small little things that can make us so happy around us, and the lyrics to my tracks put the connecting ties between those small little things to oneself.” addressed Yesung throughout the interview.
Moreover, artist addressed “When I was in my 20s, I didn’t have a single day where I wasn’t packed with schedules, it was harsh, since I was so busy I never really had time to look around. However as I turned 30 and slowly I started to find peace and time to really look around myself I came to an understanding that we are surrounded by small little things that has potential of providing us with happiness” adding “I knew it wasn’t going to be easy to incorporate band sound into my album, and that is why it took me so long to come up with the album.”
Since we met up with artist Yesung, we had to ask him some of the questions regarding the group Super Junior. As a member of a group which debuted in 2005 and continued on with its activity for 18 consecutive years we were curious to how he felt about the group.
When asked, artist replied by stating “When we debuted, I was not sure of how long we are going to last because there is an old saying that boy groups only last for five years,” adding “I have thought of continuing on with the group for a long period of time, since we are at our 18th anniversary some addresses us as being too old, however it feels like yesterday that we have debuted.”
Moreover, “Despite of the time progresses, I am not planning on putting myself down, I will continue to strive forward. We are aware of the nature of slowly descending fame however with the rightful and unique color which artist possesses I think we will be ok. I really do want to make those who are not familiar with who I am curious of the tracks I produce and put out.” artist Yesung addressed when asked of his motivation to strive forward.
