SEOUL November 28 (Yonhap) -- Busan Firework Festival which was postponed until further notice due to tragedy in Itaewon, will kick off on December 17.

Busan Firework Festival which will be its 17th of its own kind will be held at the Gwangalli Beach, Dongbaeksom Island, Igidae Cliff Costal Walk, under the theme of “Busan Harmony” on December 17, addressed Busan City Government on Monday.

Busan Firework Festival was originally planned out for November 5, however due to Itaewon tragedy on October 29, South Korea went under the effect of national mourning period, therefore the festival was postponed for indefinite amount of time.

As the postpone of the event continued on, Busan City Government decided rearranged time of the event from 8 p.m. to 7 p.m. because of recent drop of the temperature.

Firework Festival which will be held in three years due to wide spread of COVID19, Busan City Government decided to increase the number of security by 50 percent in order to prevent any sort of injuries from happening.

Moreover, Busan City Government will put a restriction on 16 of the pathways to Gwangalli Beach to prevent massive influx of crowd from happening.

Busan City Government will also increase the number of security cameras within intersections and bottleneck places in order to check on with the situation.

Four of the live broadcasting stations with LED will be placed throughout the area and will be protected by the fence.

Subway stations will be restricted based on the traffic volume.
