SEOUL, Nov. 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korean singer-songwriter Kim Gun-mo (53), who was accused of sexual assault last January, was not indicted by the prosecution.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office announced Thursday that it had not indicted Kim for alleged sexual assault.
In December 2019, the alleged victim, a former bar girl, sued Kim for raping her at a hostess bar in Gangnam, Seoul, in 2016.
The alleged victim's claims were first brought up through a YouTube channel operated by lawyer Kang Yong-seok and Kim Sae-eui, a former TV news reporter.
However, Kim's agency countersued the alleged victim for spreading false information.
Although the Seoul Gangnam Police Station forwarded Kim' indictment over to the prosecution, there were reportedly found no charges after investigating relevant statements and evidence.
The prosecution also added that the decision of not indicting Kim was approved by the citizens' committee.
