SEOUL, June 10 (Yonhap) -- K-pop supergroup BTS made a highly anticipated return to the music scene Friday with an anthology album titled "Proof."
This is the band's first physical album since it released the single CD with "Butter" and "Permission to Dance" last year, according to the agency BigHit Music.
The agency explained about the new album, “‘Proof’ is an album designed to reflect on its activities and its meaning now that BTS, which marks its ninth anniversary this year, is opening a new chapter as an artist in its 10th year."
"Proof," which consists of three CDs depicting the past, present, and future of BTS, has a total of 48 tracks, including three new songs -- "Yet To Come," "Run BTS" and "For Youth."
Team leader RM, Suga, and J-hope took part in the creation of the main track "Yet To Come" with the subtitle "The Most Beautiful Moment."
The album's first CD has mostly the biggest hits from throughout the group's career, from the unreleased song "Born Singer" to the debut song "No More Dream," and "Butter."
“Born Singer,” an adaptation of the hip hop musician J. Cole’s “Born Sinner,” is a track that expresses the feelings of BTS after a month of their debut. The song was released in July 2013 but has never been officially included in an album.
BTS revealed the remastered version of this track.
The second CD is made up of subunit tracks and solo tracks of BTS members.
The CD consists of 15 tracks in which the 7 members worked alone and together including the new song "Run BTS," "Intro : Persona," "Stay," "Moon," and "Euphoria."
BigHit Music said, "If the first CD of 'Proof' shows the chronology of BTS, the second CD is designed to tell why the band, who has been working together for 9 years respecting each other's tastes and colors, shines."
The seven members personally chose the songs of the second CD.
The last third CD is under the theme of “special gift” that can be kept by both BTS and its fans.
The CD consists of 14 tracks including previously unreleased songs, demo versions of some of the hit songs, and a song for fans.
Among them, the songs “Young Love” and “Quotation Mark” were produced earlier but are revealed for the first time.
“Tony Montana" is a song from the mixtape released by member Suga under the stage name “Agust D” in 2016, and the version where he performed with Jimin at the fan meeting in 2016 was included in the album.
“Still With You,” a self-composed song revealed by member Jungkook in 2020, was also contained in the acapella version.
The last track of the CD goes to “For Youth,” which contains the love and gratitude towards the fans.
BigHit Music explained, “Since the third CD is a ‘special version’ for the fans, the other songs except ‘For Youth’ can only be found through the CD.”
BTS’ new album will drop on June 10 at 1 p.m. in Korea and at midnight in Eastern Standard Time.
The group will hold its first stage on "Proof Live," which will be hosted on June 13 at 9 p.m. through YouTube.
The band will appear on various domestic TV music programs to meet Army (the group's global fandom), starting with Mnet's "M Countdown," KBS 2TV's "Music Bank," and SBS' "Inkigayo."
