SEOUL, August 27 (Yonhap) -- Director Yoon Je-kyoon’s new movie “K-pop: Lost In America” will begin its filming next year with Hollywood.

Director Yoon said, “We are currently working on the scenario to start its filming in the first half of next year,” adding, “We will work with best staffs in this area,” through CJ ENM on Monday

“K-pop : Lost in America” is about K-pop boy group, who is close to debut, struggling in Texas country village with no phone and money. CJ ENM added that it is a road movie that depicts the conflict and growth of young people through the journey of a K-pop boy group.

It is a global project in which Hollywood staff participate, including Linda Obst, who produced “Sleepless in Seattle,” “Contact,” and “Interstellar,” and Kirsten Smith, who wrote the screenplay for “Legally Blonde.” Hollywood studio will be used for scenes like concert filming.

Cha Eun-woo, a member of the S.Korean boy group ASTRO and an actor, is being considered for the lead role. Hollywood actors Rebel Wilson and Charles Melton have been casted.

This project was planned out by CJ Group Vice Chairman Lee Mi-kyung and K-pop enthusiast Linda Obst, and was accompoliashed after suggesting the directing to director Yoon, who had over 10 million viewers for each movies “Ode to My Father” and “Tidal Wave.”

Director Yoon said, “The fun comes from the cultural conflict,” adding, “We are have intense meetings with Hollywood staffs.”
