SEOUL, Oct. 2 (Yonhap) -- NewJeans' hit song "Super Shy" has been ranked 13th on the 100 Best Songs of the 2020s So Far list by the renowned American music publication Pitchfork.
Announced on the 30th (local time), "Super Shy" was the only K-pop song to make the list. It outperformed global hits such as Sabrina Carpenter's "Espresso" (30th) and Olivia Rodrigo's "Good 4 U" (28th).
Pitchfork praised the song as "NewJeans' most effortless masterpiece," noting its use of drum and bass with Jersey club beats, which create an understated yet catchy hook.
"Super Shy" has also made its mark on international charts, entering both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart Top 100. The track has surpassed 600 million streams on Spotify.
The mini-album Get Up, which includes "Super Shy," previously received a score of 7.6 from Pitchfork, the second-highest rating the publication has ever given a K-pop album.
Lana Del Rey's "A&W" was ranked first, while Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us" secured third place on the list.
