SEOUL, August 4 (Yonhap) -- YENA from girl group IZONE returned to the music scene as “GAME HERO” after making a successful debut as solo with her first mini album “SMiLEY,” in the beginning of this year.
Yena revealed that she will be showing “GAME HERO” concept through this album during the media conference for her second mini album “SMARTPHONE,” which was held in Gwangjin-gu on Wendesday.
She is a character in a game who defeats villains, which is an extension to the “SMILE HERO” concept in the first mini album.
YENA said, “I do really like to play game,” adding, “I put the feeling of excitement right before pressing the game power button into the lyrics.”
The new album is composed of five songs including the title song “SMARTPHONE,” along with “Make U smaile,” “WithOrWithOut,” “Lemon-Aid,” and “U.”
“SMARTPHONE” features an energetic drum beat and electronic bass sound, and YENA participated in writing and composing.
“Make U Smile” has a positive energy for YENA’s fandom “Jigumi.”
She said, “It has the message ‘I will make you happy,’ which I have said many times to my fans.”
She did not hide excitement about her comeback overlapping with that of Girl’s Generation, her role model.
YENA said, “It’s like a dream to work at the same time as Girl’s Generation,” adding, “It's similar to the excitement I feel before I get on the stage.”
