SEOUL, Oct. 18 (Yonhap) -- On the weekends star actress Jun Ji-hyun will be returning to the small screens with mystery thriller "Jirisan" after about four years and nine months since starring in "Legend of the Blue Sea," which ended in January 2017.

Meanwhile, Jun starred in "Kingdom: Ashin of the North," a prequel to Netflix's popular Korean zombie series "Kingdom."

In "Jirisan," written by star screenwriter Kim Eun-hee, Jun plays an experienced ranger who experiences mysterious incidents involving the visitors to the mountain.

"Jirisan" follows Seo Yi-gang (Jun Ji-hyun), the best forest ranger at Mount Jiri National Park, and rookie ranger Kang Hyun-jo (Ju Ji-hoon), digs into mysterious accidents occurring on the mountain. The drama highlights screenwriter Kim's specialty in mystery who has also wrote the scripts for "Sign," "Signal," and "Kingdom."

Expectations are high on whether Jun, who has expressed her confidence in climbing by calling herself a "flying squirrel," will be able to create another iconic character like Chun Song-yi from the 2013 drama "My Love From the Star."

In the released trailer, Jun goes through shaking branches in a storm, a valley flooding with pouring rain, and dangerous rocky walls to continue rescue activities. In addition to the tension of the story, the fact that audiences can see the scenery of Mount Jiri in all four seasons is also an aspect people can look forward.
