SEOUL, Mar. 29 (Yonhap) – TVING said the original drama "Bargain" has been nominated for a feature competition at the 6th Cannes International Series Festival on Tuesday (local time).

The Cannes International Series Festival is a contest held every April in Cannes, France, for dramas and series contents around the world. This year, it will be held from the 14th to the 19th of next month.

This is the first time that a Korean OTT drama has been invited to the competition. As for Korean dramas, tvN's "Mother" entered the competition sector in the first episode.

"Bargain" will compete with nine other nominations, including "Good Morning, Chuck" (Canada), "Carthago" (Israel) and "Childhood Dreams" (Netherlands), for five trophies, including Best Series, Music Award, Screenplay Award, and Actor Award.

"Bargain" is based on a short film of the same name directed by Lee Chung-hyun. It is a story about three people who were bargaining for each other's ransom, trapped in a building that collapsed in an earthquake, struggling with madness to seize the last chance. It stars Jin Sun-gyu, Jeon Jong-seo, and Chang Ryul.

In addition to "Bargain," the original TV drama "Island" was invited to the Rendez-vous section, which is non-competition section this year. "Island" is a fantasy drama based on the webtoon and stars Kim Nam-gil, Lee Da-hee, Cha Eun-woo and Sung-joon.

As a result, TVING will present their works at the Cannes International Series Festival for the second consecutive year, including "Monstrous" and "Work Later, Drink Now," which were invited to the non-competitive category last year.

Hwang Hye-jung, general manager of TVING contents, said, "We are happy to be recognized for the work of the TVING original series through the official invitation to the Cannes International Series Festival for the second consecutive year,” adding “We will let the global audience know the competitiveness of the original TVING series.”
