SEOUL, Sept. 24 (Yonhap) -- The long awaited collaboration single co-written by K-pop superstars BTS and British rock band Coldplay will be released on Friday.
According to Warner Music Korea, Coldplay and BTS' joint single "My Universe" will be part of Coldplay's ninth album "Music of the Spheres," however is slated to drop as a single first at 1 p.m..
The single contains both English and Korean lyrics and was produced by Swedish hit record producer Max Martin.
Ever since collaboration rumors between the two acts flowed around a few months ago, fans and the public have been highly anticipated to see what kind of music the global artists would showcase.
After the rumors were official, the two bands recently shared a teaser video on their TikTok accounts that showed the seven-piece-act and Coldplay's vocalist Chris Martin singing parts of "My Universe" together in a studio.
The clips also confirmed rumors that Martin had visited Korea in April, which adds meaning to the collaboration since the two acts met and worked together in person amid the pandemic.
In addition, Martin appeared on the U.S. TV series "The Kelly Clarkson Show" and said, "I went to Korea to be with them (BTS), and it was an amazing experience."
BTS and Coldplay also continued meeting each other both online and offline even after their collaboration.
Earlier on Sept. 4, when BTS appeared in a special episode of YouTube Original's weekly music show "RELEASED" through video, Martin, who was the host, was able to have a genuine conversation with the group.
BTS, who recently flew to New York to attend a United Nations event as a special presidential envoy, also posted a photo taken together with Coldplay on social media.

In particular, Martin and Coldplay's bassist Guy Berryman were seen wearing modernized hanbok clothing, which were presumably presented by BTS.
Additionally, keen attention is paid to the powerful results Coldplay, one of the world's top bands, and BTS, which boasts one of the world's biggest fan bases, will bring together on the chart.
Fans of BTS are also raising high expectations on whether the septet will break its own highest ranking record on the UK chart, especially since "My Universe" is collaborated with Coldplay.
BTS landed No.3 with its smash hit "Dynamite" and "Butter" on the UK Singles Chart, which is considered one of the top two charts in the world along with the Billboard chart.
