SEOUL, May 20 (Yonhap) -- Actors Seol Kyung-gu and Ryu Jun-yeol will team up in the upcoming Netflix thriller series "The Stray Mouse," the global streaming giant said Tuesday.
The drama follows Moon-jae, a reclusive novelist who sets out to reclaim his life after it is upended by a mysterious figure known only as "The Stray Mouse." To do so, he forms an unlikely alliance with No-ja, a ruthless private loan shark who once pursued him.
The series is based on a Kakao webtoon of the same name, inspired by a Korean folktale that says "a mouse becomes human when it eats a fingernail."
Ryu Jun-yeol will take on the role of Moon-jae, who suffers from severe social anxiety and lives in isolation, while Seol Kyung-gu will portray No-ja, a money-driven loan shark who stops at nothing to achieve his goals.
The project brings together director Kim Hong-sun, known for "Song of the Bandits" and the Korean adaptation of "Money Heist: Joint Economic Area," and screenwriter Lee Jae-gon of "A Model Family."
