SEOUL, Nov. 7 (Yonhap) -- The romance film Hear Me: Our Summer, starring Hong Kyung and Noh Yoon-seo, debuted at the top of the box office.
According to data from the Korean Film Council on the 7th, Hear Me: Our Summer, directed by Cho Sun-ho, attracted over 37,000 viewers on its opening day, capturing a 28.3% share of ticket sales and securing first place in the box office.
The movie is a remake of a popular Taiwanese film and follows the story of Yong-jun (played by Hong Kyung), a recent college graduate navigating the challenges of job hunting. He experiences love at first sight when he meets Yeoreum (played by Noh Yoon-seo) at a swimming pool, setting off a journey of young romance. The film has received favorable responses from audiences, boasting a 97% rating on CGV's Golden Egg index.
Meanwhile, the anti-hero film Venom: Last Dance drew about 25,000 viewers (20% of ticket sales), dropping to second place with a cumulative audience of around 1.39 million. In third place is Amazon Hwalmyeongsu, starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Jin Sun-kyu, which attracted an additional 16,000 viewers (12.5%), bringing its total audience count to roughly 430,000. Despite the reunion of the lead actors from the blockbuster Extreme Job, Amazon Hwalmyeongsu has seen a steady decline in viewers since its second week.
New releases such as the Hollywood comedy-action Red One and the Korean disaster film Deadline entered the box office rankings at fourth and fifth, with approximately 8,000 (7.2%) and 5,000 (3.1%) viewers, respectively.
