SEOUL, Sept. 30 (Yonhap) -- BTS member Suga has been fined for driving an electric scooter while under the influence of alcohol.

According to legal sources on the 30th, Judge Lee Yoo-seop of the Seoul Western District Court's Summary Division 7 issued a summary order on the 27th, fining Suga 15 million won for violating the Road Traffic Act due to drunk driving. This amount matches the fine previously sought by prosecutors. A summary order is a legal procedure used for relatively minor offenses where fines or penalties are imposed based on a written review without a formal trial. Suga has the right to request a formal trial within seven days of being notified of the order if he disagrees with the decision.

Suga, who is currently serving as a social service agent for his mandatory military duty, was charged with driving an electric scooter under the influence on the streets of Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, at around 11:15 p.m. on the 6th of last month.

At the time, Suga's blood alcohol concentration was 0.227%, nearly three times the legal limit for license revocation (0.08%).

Seventeen days after the incident, on the 23rd of last month, Suga appeared at the Yongsan Police Station for questioning.

During the investigation, Suga admitted to the charges and later issued a handwritten apology, stating, "I have deeply tarnished the precious memories I created with the members and fans, and brought disgrace to the name of BTS. I feel indescribable guilt and pain for causing harm to the team and my fellow members."
