SEOUL, August 23 (Yonhap) --The area around Yeolseonru Pavilion in Boseong county, South Jeolla Province, where the traces of Admiral Yi Sun-sin remain, will be created as a historical and cultural landmark.

Boseong county announced on Monday that it plans to create the walking trail and a resting facility near the Yeolseonru Pavilion.

Boseong Yeolseonru Pavilion is known as the place where Admiral Yi Sun-sin wrote the Janggye 'Geumsinjeonseon Sangyusipyi' (今臣?尙有十二), stating, "God still has twelve ships."

The Sinheungdongsan development project, which aims to create Yeolseonru pavilion and its surroundings as a historical and cultural park, has a total project cost of 11.8 billion won.

The reconstruction of Yeolseonru pavilion was completed in October of last year, and development projects around Sinheungdongsan are currently underway.

The grass plaza will be enlarged around the Yeolseonru Pavilion, and resting facilities such as terrace gardens and deck gardens will also be created.

It is planned to revive the old atmosphere of Boseong-eupseong by adding walking trails and parking lots, and by building low stone walls around the trails.

In addition, it will emphasize the historical and cultural value of Yeolseonru pavilion and develop tourism and cultural contents that can carry on the spirit of Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

Boseong county plans to open a public contest for a proposal of the "Utilization of Yeolseonru Pavilion" for all employees, and will be presented as a tourism product after examination next month.

"We plan to collect opinions from local residents and reflect them in our business plan," said Kim Cheol-woo, governor of Boseong County. "We will also make historical tourism contents of historical sites related to Yi Sun-sin, such as Joyangchang, where rice for the military was obtained."
