SEOUL, June 13 (Yonhap) -- Romantic comedy series 'My Sweet Mobster,' starring actors Uhm Tae-goo and Han Sun-hwa, started with a viewership rating in the 2% range, broadcaster said.

According to Nielsen Korea on the 13th, the first episode of JTBC's 'My Sweet Mobster,' which aired the previous evening, recorded a viewership rating of 2.3%. This is higher than the highest rating of 2.0% achieved by the drama 'No Secrets,' which aired until a week ago.

The first episode depicted the chance encounter between reformed gang leader Seo Ji-hwan (played by Uhm Tae-goo) and kids' creator Go Eun-ha (played by Han Sun-hwa). Seo Ji-hwan, who has founded and is managing a food company named 'Thirsty Deer' with other reformed ex-convicts, goes to a club run by a gang to find an employee who hasn't been able to quit drugs.

Go Eun-ha, dressed in a police uniform for her children's video shoot, coincidentally bumps into Ji-hwan at the club. Mistakenly believing that Ji-hwan had beaten up a club employee, Eun-ha handcuffs him with toy handcuffs. However, it was actually a gang member who had assaulted the employee, and Ji-hwan pleads his innocence to Eun-ha.

The debut episode mainly focused on introducing the characters and comically portraying the fateful encounter between the two protagonists. Uhm Tae-goo showcased a range of comedic expressions, switching between serious, frustrated, imposing, and goofy looks in his role as the former gang leader.

While the unique characters drew attention, the use of computer graphics (CG) reminiscent of animation and exaggerated settings might lead to mixed reactions depending on viewers' age and preferences.

'My Sweet Mobster,' consisting of 16 episodes, airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 8:50 PM.
