K-pop boy band Enhypen sweeps Oricon music charts with debut single in Japan

SEOUL, July 13 (Yonhap) -- K-pop rookie boy group Enhypen has topped Japan's key daily and weekly music charts with its debut single in Japan.

The seven-piece act's debut single "Border: Hakanai," released on July 6, sat atop Oricon's weekly singles chart after selling 200,000 copies between July 5-11, according to Oricon News on Tuesday..

Enhypen is the first artist to reach the top of the weekly singles chart as soon as the band's first single was released in Japan.

This is also the fifth time where overseas male artists have reached the top of the weekly singles chart with their first single, following Jang Keun-suk, EXO, iKON and Stray Kids.

"Border: Hakanai" ranked No.1 on Oricon's daily singles chart right after it was released as well.

The single includes the Japanese version of pre-released songs "Given-Taken" and "Let Me In" as well as a new Japanese song "Forget Me Not."

The members of Enhypen were picked through Korean broadcaster Mnet's global audition program "I-Land," and includes Japanese member Niki, who has garnered a huge fan base along with the other members in Japan even before their official debut in the country.
