SEOUL, June 15 (Yonhap) -- Nearly 10,000,000 copies of K-pop were sold in a month, breaking the record in May according to Korea’s album sales tracker Gagon Chart.

According to the principal researcher of Gaon Chart Kim Jin-woo, compare to last year's sale of “sales of the top 400 albums” to this may, a total of 9,331,279 copies of K-pop albums were sold and it is 81.4 percent increase in total sales. Compared to the previous month, it increased by 115.9 percent.

South Korean boy group Seventeen’s 4th album “Face the Sun” was ranked number one in sales with a record of 2,239,351 copies sold.

Tomorrow x Together, the Korean boy quintet followed the lead by selling a total of 1,632,824 copies of their 4th EP “minisode 2: Thursday's Child”. And Lim Young-woong’s first album “I’M HERO” was third in line by selling 1,138,876 copies.

LE SSERAFIM was the only girl group to make it to the top 10 most sold albums with their album “FEARLESS” total of 412,696 copies sold. Kang Daniel’s first album The Story and his platform version took both 9th and 10th place on the list by selling 169,105 physical copies and 150,000 copies digitally.

Kim Jin-woo the principal researcher of Gaon chart announced “the sales of Seventeen, Tomorrow x Together and Lim Young-woong accounted for 55 percent of the total album sales” adding “ 27,000,000 physical copies were sold from January to May, 8,000,000 more copies were sold compared to the same period last year.”
