SEOUL, Sep. 17 (Yonhap) -- MBC will show a Fridays-Saturdays series “The Veil” starring actress Nam Koong-min on the 17th.
The series picture the process of the National Intelligence Service’s (NIS) top agent Han Ji-hyuk (Nam) returning to the organization with his memories lost and discovering the betrayer inside and the truth of a large conspiracy.
Kim Seong-yeong PD, who took part in “My Healing Love,” has directed the series.
As it is known to have been co-invested 1.5 billion won in production by MBC and WAVV, its scale is looked forward to.
“While I was feeling a little exhausted at the trend of stylish and light series and was looking for something else, I saw the script for ‘The Veil.’ It was so heavy, and that heaviness dragged me in,” said Nam (43) on an online conference on the 16th.
“While Ji-hyuk looks for the betrayer in the organization, pieces of memories during an year come back. It will be fun for you to make deductions together,” added the actor.
“I have increased from 64kg to 78kg. After the series, I want to stop exercising and eat flour and delicious foods,” said Nam about his recent issue, his bulking up.
“This production’s biggest attraction is that no one can be trusted. There are some times hard to decide whether that person is good or bad,” said actress Park Ha-sun (33), who played as Ji-hyuk’s colleague Seo Soo-yeon.
“That the story is unpredictable as the events and the characters have dualism is attractive,” said Kim Ji-eun (27) who took the role of Yoo Je-yi of NIS field agent.
“The difference from other NIS series is that we have dug deeper to the organization. Also, we added reality thanks to the real NIS’s support and counsel,” said Kim PD.
“We received a lot of counseling for the colors of the clothes, the office set and holding the guns. We have also added more details visiting the NIS several times. The head of NIS told us that they will provide active support which has been a big help to us,” said Kim PD.
The series’ cast includes not only Nam, Park and 김지은 but also veteran actors such as Kim Byung-ki, Lee Geung-young, Jang Young-nam, Kim Jong-tae, Kim Min-sang, Kim Do-hyun and Yu Oh-seong.
The first and second episodes are for 19 years old and above. The first episode will air at 10 p.m. Friday.
