SEOUL, Feb. 27 (Yonhap) -- "I make films with the hope that audiences will leave the theater feeling happy—just like with The Roundup series. As an entertainer, my goal in producing movies is to bring joy to viewers."

Actor Ma Dong-seok, who participated as a producer in director Lee Ru-da’s film The Noisy Mansion, shared his thoughts through distributor Plus M Entertainment on Thursday. "I believe movies are about communication. Meeting audiences and making them laugh is the most rewarding part," he said.

Since The Roundup (2017), Ma has consistently taken on the role of producer for films such as The Roundup 2, Men of Plastic (2022), The Roundup: No Way Out (2023), The Roundup: Punishment, and Badland Hunters (2024).

His latest project, The Noisy Mansion, follows a woman named Gyeoul (played by Kyung Soo-jin), an apartment resident who struggles with persistent noise from upstairs at 4 a.m. every night. Determined to find the culprit, she embarks on an investigation, leading to a comedic and chaotic adventure where ordinary citizens band together to solve the mystery.

Ma decided to join the project after reading the script, which was handed to him by co-producer IO Content Group. "The film tackles the familiar issue of noise complaints but introduces fresh elements. It’s a story that balances both entertainment and meaning," he explained.

"When preparing a production, many factors are important, but I believe the script comes first," he emphasized. "To me, The Noisy Mansion felt like a perfect blend of comedy and drama."

This marks the feature debut of director Lee, who previously worked in the directing teams for Helpless, New World, and The Tiger.

Regarding his collaboration with a first-time director, Ma said, "It doesn’t matter whether someone is a newcomer or a veteran—good people make good films. I plan to continue working with directors who have both talent and integrity."

He also expressed his passion for both acting and producing, stating, "Acting and producing complement each other, sparking new ideas. Both are things I truly love doing."
