SEOUL, May 25 (Yonhap) -- K-pop sensation BTS won the Foreign Work Award from the 43rd Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC) Awards, the executive committee said Wednesday.
Since 1982, the JASRAC has been presenting the JASRAC Awards annually to domestic and international copyright holders whose musical works represent a large share of the royalty distribution. The JASRAC Awards are bestowed based on royalties earned by each work during a one-year period from April to March.
According to this year’s tally of copyright royalties, BTS’ “Butter” earned the largest total royalties among foreign musical works.
The band’s two other hit singles “Permission to Dance” and “Dynamite” also ranked third and fourth in this year’s Top 10 Foreign Income Works chart, respectively.
“Dynamite” won the JASRAC’s Foreign Work Award last year.
While unveiling the Top 10 Domestic and Foreign Income Works, the JASRAC did not disclose the specific amount of royalties each work had earned as of this March.
