SEOUL, Mar. 29 (Yonhap) -- “The album is more mature and solid although it’s bright and cheerful. Please show a lot of love and support,” said Oh My Girl's member YooA.
K-pop group Oh My Girl said in the “Real Love” album release showcase on Monday, “We hope our song can be a fragrance that sweeps in once. We hope it's a scent that lingers in your head and you keep looking for it.”
“Real Love” is a full album revealed in 3 years since Oh My Girl released its first full album in 2019.
The album consists of 10 songs including the title song “Real Love,” “Drip,” “Eden,” “Replay,” “Blink.”
Hyojung said, “We included Oh My Girl’s color but tried to capture a more mature look,” adding, “We now have greater responsibility thanks to more people’s love and support.”
The title song "Real Love" depicts a special situation in which everything around someone feels unfamiliar at the moment they fall in love. The sophisticated and aesthetic sound harmonizes with Oh My Girl's colorful vocals.
Mimi said, "I think the atmosphere will be different depending on each person's experience and situation," adding, "We will be able to show a lot of new images of Oh My Girl."
Jiho said, "As soon as I heard the demo of the song for the first time, I thought it had a mysterious aura," adding, "There is a bright atmosphere and there is also a feeling of overwhelming at the end. I tried to sing the second verse more brightly than the first verse to give a sense of narrative arc.”
Oh My Girl, which debuted in 2015, gained great popularity after appearing in the Mnet girl group contest program “Queendom.”
The group later became a top girl group with hit songs “Nonstop,” “Dolphin,” and “Dun Dun Dance.” It is of great interest whether the group’s new song “Real Love,” could make the fourth consecutive hit record.
Seunghee shared the key to popularity and said, "It’s all thanks to the members who taught me how to love myself so that I can be loved by many fans," adding, "I owe it to the members who loved and cared for each other greatly.”
Hyojung said, "Since our song is music that people look back to listen to once more, I hear fans get positive energy from listening to our songs during hard times,” adding, “I think this is because of our group’s unique bright energy.”
The member added, "I hope Oh My Girl will be called 'human perfume' with this album," adding, "I hope we will be a fragrance-like girl group that listeners visit every day."
Thanks to the success of the past few years, the group could have felt pressure on the performance of the new album, but they shook their heads. The group said they don’t care about the results since they do their best while preparing for the album.
“Every time I do something, I realize that I shouldn't value the results. I did my best to make this album, and I believe that the members who created it with me will also do well, so I won't think about the results,” explained Mimi.
