SEOUL, Mar. 9 (Yonhap) -- Suga, a member of the K-pop supergroup BTS, has donated 100 million won for the sake of those affected by the tragic disasters in Turkey and Syria.
The multi-faceted member pitched in 100 million won to Save the Children, an international non-government organization (NGO) for children’s rights, on his birthday (Mar. 9) to help the children affected by the 7.8 magnitude quakes that hit Southern Turkey and northern Syria, the NGO confirmed Thursday
“Too many children and families have been hurt and damaged by this catastrophe,” the superstar said. “I would like to express my condolences to the survivors and the victims. I hope that my donation may be of some help to those children who were affected and that my donations would be used to support relief supplies for them.”
His donations will be used to purchase blankets, mattresses, and school supplies for children who are in desperate need of help in the quake-hit regions.
On his birthday last year, Suga formerly made a donation of 100 million won to Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association for those who were affected by the forest fires that started on the eastern coast of Gangwon Province and burned forests also in the North Gyeongsang Province. The singer also donated 100 million won to Seongseo Dongsan Hospital at Keimyung University in Daegu on his birthday two years ago.
In February 2020, he joined to spring into action and help the city of Daegu, which suffered the most from the very early phase of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Three years ago on his birthday, the artist was reported to have delivered 100 million won and 329 dolls to the Korea Pediatric Cancer Foundation in the name of his group’s fandom “Army.”
