Freddie Mercury statue unveiled in S. Korea

These photos, taken by Park Ji-ho, a photo reporter at Yonhap News Agency's Jeju News Headquarters, show the members of S. Korean fan clubs of the legendary British rock band Queen, who took part in a ceremony to unveil a statue of the band's lead singer Freddie Mercury at a beach in the city of Jeju on South Korea's largest island of the same name on Apr. 21, 2022.

A committee seeking the introduction of the statue has pushed ahead with a project to set it up in cooperation with the fan clubs -- We Will Rock You and Queen Forever -- and gained approval from the Queen side.

The 177-centimeter-high statue is the first replica of the one in Montreux, Switzerland. (Yonhap)
