SEOUL, Feb. 20 (Yonhap) -- The Tango Ballet “El Cxuce Tango,” founded and performed by one of the most prominent tango dance companies active in Argentina which is the home of tango, will visit Korea and perform in Asia for the very first time.

The Mapo Cultural Foundation and Korean-owned Circus Art Company Movil will be holding El Cxuce Tango’s very first gig in Korea and Asia, titled “Tango, Fascination,” at Mapo Art Center in Seoul on Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. (KST), the hosts announced Monday.

El Cxuce Tango is a dance troupe founded in Argentina in 2013 by two legendary tango maestros Vanesa Villalba and Facundo Pinero, who also serve as the Argentine tango ambassadors and official judges of the World Tango Championship.

The troupe has been joining hands with local tango dancers worldwide in every world tour gig it puts on stage. For their first Korean/Asian gig, the act, consisting of about 30 dancers from Argentina, Columbia, Japan, and Indonesia, will also be dancing with a total of seventeen professional tango dancers from Korea.

The “Tango, Fascination” performance, directed and choreographed also by Facundo Pinero and Vanesa Villalba, will show off the style of “Salon Tango” which is usually performed at clubs as well as “Ecenario Tango” that is performed on stages. The act will also showcase a stage that combines aerial circuses and tangos using aerial hoops.
