SEOUL, August 12 (Yonhap) --Spy action “Hunt” and Yi Sun-shin’s movie “Hansan : Rising Dragon” will be competing for the lead of S.Korean box office for this summer.

“Hunt” topped S.Korean box office with 173,000 viewers on Thursday, ousting “Hansan” (115,000 viewers), according to the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council on Friday.

Lee Jung-dae’s directing debut film “Hunt” took the lead for two consecutive days since the released date, Aug. 10. Friday morning reservation rate of “Hunt” was 32.8% (159,000), getting ahead of “Hansan” (27.7%).

“Hunt” was the last of four major Korean films to be released this summer. Part 1 of “Alienoid,” released earlier, attracted 1.51 million people, and “Emergency Declaration” only drew 1.68 million people. The winner is most likely to be between the new movie “Hunt” and “Hansan,” which has accumulated total of 5 million audiences in the third week of its release.

“Top Gun: Maverick,”which is in its eighth week of release, drew more than 50,000 audiences on Thursday and took fourth place at the box office. With a cumulative audience of 7.54 million, it is likely to break the record of “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” (7.57 million), the most successful Tom Cruise movie ever.

Among the newly released films, animation is performing well. On Thursday, “DC League of Super-Pets” ranked 5th, “Ocean Expeditionary Force Octonut: Great Operation of the Expedition Ship” ranked 7th, and “The Movie of Survival: Human body and Deep sea” ranked 11th.
