SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Yonhap) -- Entertainment agency Hook Entertainment, in which four executives including CEO Kwon Jin-young were sued by singer and actor Lee Seung-gi for not properly compensating Lee, has denied all the charges against them on Friday.
Hook sent a press release later in the same day, claiming, "It is not true that we have defrauded some of the money to be paid to Lee."
Hook said, "Even if it was not intentional, We sincerely apologize for the omitted parts of Lee Seung-gi's music settlement and how hurt he must feel," added, "However, We cannot no longer accept media manipulation."
Lee Seung-gi sued four people, including CEO Kwon, to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on Thursday, stating that Hook did not properly calculate music usuage fee and stole some of the advertisement model fees.
Lee Seung-gi's side claimed that "about 10% of advertising model fees have been paid to advertising agencies for years under the name 'agency fees', but it turns out, Hook's former and current directors seem to have shared those fees instead without paying them."
Hook countered Lee's claim saying, "Since 2015, Hook has never deducted any agency fees when distributing profits with Lee."
Additionaaly, referring to the recent payment of about 4.8 billion won to Lee, Hook said, "Re-calculating his model fee before 2015 while paying Lee for the the unsettlements is not because we acknowledges his calim."
They added, "We notified the necessecity of returning unfair profits regarding the overpaid amounts to him when re-calculating the settlements, and we are also preparing to sue forthe unfair profit return," adding, "Since Lee has also taken legal actions, please make judgements based on the fair judgement by the law."
