SEOUL February 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actors, actresses, and those work within the film industry who has worked with actress Kang Soo-yeon will be hosting an event on May of 2023 in memory of Kang Soo-yeon’s passing in 2022.
According to the film industry on Thursday, 30 of those who worked with actress Kang Soo-yeon in the past has created a committee for her memorial event.
Within the committee, director Im Kwon-taek, former representative of Busan International Film Festival, Kim Dong-ho, director Bong Joon-ho, Yeon Sang-ho, actor Ahn Sung-ki, Lee Deok-hwa, Kwon Hae-hyo and more are included.
Memorial committee will be showcasing 10 of the movies actress participated in on May 6 through 9. First day of the memorial event will be held at the Cinematech located within the Korean Film Archive, and on May 7 through 9 the event will continue on at Megabox located in Seongsu district, Seoul. memorial exhibition
One of the most well known film featuring actress Kang Soo-yeon, “The Surrogate Woman,” from 1986, “Mimi and Cheolsu’s Youth Sketch,” from 1987, “Come Come Come Upward,” from 1989, “Road to the Racetrack,” from 1991, “Rainbow Trout” from 1999, “Girl’s Night Out,” from 1998 and more will be featured throughout the event.
With the screening of the movies, fellow actors and actress will take the stage to address their memories and engage in a question and answer session with the audiences.
Actress Kang Soo-yeon who held the title of the original world star suffered cerebral hemorrhage in May of 2022 and was rushed to the hospital, however the actress passed shortly.
