SEOUL, November 24 (Yonhap)-- According to a survey, the number of K-pop-related video views increased 2.5 times during the COVID-19 pandemic.


K-pop Radar, run by a music startup called Space Oddity, unveiled the "2022 K-pop World Map" on November 23, which analyzes the number of views of 229 K-pop artists' music videos and videos with their music inserted for a year starting from August 1 of last year.
 
K-Pop Radar explained that the number of new K-pop-related videos exceeded 64.3 billion during the survey period, which shows a 2.5 times increase compared to the data surveyed in 2019.
 
Videos related to BTS recorded 18.7% of the total video views, BLACKPINK 11.3%, TWICE 5.8%, and LISA 3.7%. Additionally, videos related to Stray Kids, ITZY, SEVENTEEN, AESPA, PSY, and IU had high views as well.
 
It showed an especially steep rise in India and Japan.


The result showed that India became the fourth country that watches the most K-pop videos. Views of K-pop-related videos have especially sharply increased in India showing 1,000% rise. 
 
Japan ranked sixth in K-pop video consumption in 2019, but in this survey, it emerged as the second-largest after Korea. Indonesia came in third.
 
K-pop Radar analyzed, "This is the result of the success of the fourth generation idols, who made their debut during the pandemic in the market that BTS and BLACKPINK have solidified."
