SEOUL, March 12 (Yonhap) -- Lotte Department Store kicked off a special pop-up event, Happy PLAVE Day, in Seoul on Wednesday to celebrate the second anniversary of virtual K-pop boy group PLAVE.
The event is held at the Atrium on the first floor of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil until March 16.
Debuting in March 2023, the five-member group has gained immense popularity among fans in their teens and twenties. Their latest mini-album, Caligo Pt.1, became a million-seller, surpassing one million copies sold and topping major domestic music charts. PLAVE also made history as the first virtual group to enter Billboard’s Global 200 chart.
Reflecting their soaring popularity, reservations for the pop-up event sold out in just two hours, with over 25,000 users waiting in the online queue, according to Lotte Department Store.
The pop-up space is designed to offer fans an immersive PLAVE experience. The exhibition area, Happy PLAVE Party, showcases memorable moments from the past two years, while the Happy PLAVE Moment photo zone allows visitors to take commemorative pictures with virtual PLAVE members.
On March 12, the group’s official anniversary, a 30-minute video featuring highlights from their debut to the present, along with a special thank-you message from PLAVE, will be displayed on a massive screen in the Atrium at 7 PM. Fans without reservations can still watch the screening from the second and fifth floors of World Mall.
In addition, official PLAVE 2nd anniversary merchandise will be available for purchase at the pop-up, marking the first time a domestic retailer has released official goods for the group.
Yoo Do-won, a buyer from Lotte Department Store’s Fashion Accessories Team, commented, “We aim to continue leading industry trends by introducing unique content, including K-pop-related events.”
