SEOUL, Dec. 6 (Yonhap) -- "Special Agent who lost her memory." The nicknames that are given to comedian Kim Min-kyung are being filled with admiration for her outstanding athletic talent.
Kim Min-kyung, who has challenged herself to various sports such as weight training, martial arts, Pilates, and kendo through iHQ web variety show "Athletic Fat from Today" even took over the international shooting competition as a national team member.
According to the International Practical Shooting Federation (IPSC) on Monday, Kim placed 51st out of 52 women players at the 2022 IPSC Handgun World Shoot, which was held in Thailand last month. She ranked 333rd in the total of 341 people.
While the ranking is low, it is meaningful enough that someone who began shooting through a variety show just a year ago has finished all the games safely without disqualification in an international competition. Coach Kim Joon-ki, the head of the South Korean national team, praised Kim Min-kyung's performance saying, "Kim's performance is better than the result of my first tournament."
Above all, it is worthy in that it is the result of her hard training with the thought "I can do it."
Kim Min-kyung closed one eye and aimed at the target like in the movie when she first began shooting. Then, she smiled embarrassingly when the instructor said, "It's more comfortable with both eyes opened." That is how lack much lack of knowledge she had of shooting, but her skills improved noticeably with a few words of advice from the instructor.
Kim quickly pulled the gun out of her waist and shot. Like the caption, "The body that doesn't know rebound," her body was stable, she kept her balance with no shaking. The instructors complimented her saying, "It's amazing," "There's nothing more to teach," and "You are talented."
Shooting is not the only sports that Kim Min-kyung is good at. At the gym, she lifted 300kg with his leg strength, and just day after learning kickboxing, shecould lift boxing instructor. She even had no trouble doing Flying yoga and Pilates, which require flexibility, with elegant moves.
Whenever Kim Min-kyung discovers her talent for sports, viewers cheered. This is the joy of an unexpected twist.
In the meantime, a comedian who weighs a lot has been portrayed as someone who has no talent for sports and is only obsessed with eating. But Kim Min-kyun, who also preferred food over exercising, showed great talents in sports, and participated in each sports sincerely.
Gaining confidence, she actively participated in difficult missions as well saying, "I'll try," and "I got the hang of it now." When she challenged Pilates, Kim said, "Why only thin people do it, I can do it too."
Viwers watching her, they cheered for her saying, "She has basic talent, but I think her confidence that she can do her best and do anything is cool." One viewr wrote, "I thought Pilates was not a sport for me, but I took courage and started Pilates after seeing her."
Kim Min-kyung also said in the prgram, "I felt rewarded watching the viewers say they were encouraged by me."
Ha Jae-geun, a pop culture critic, said, "Usually, when you watch exercising programs, people with long and thin bodies usually perform, giving you a feeling that those sports are not for me. On the other hand, with Kim Min-kyung,she gives a sense of homogeneity, making people to keep look her up."
" Above all, viewers feel vicarious satisfaction when they see her grow one step at a time. The compliments from the coaches also popular factors," he said.
Meanwhile, Kim Min-kyung's performance at the 2022 IPSC Handgun World Shoot Competition will be aired in four episdoes at four times at "Athlectic Fat from Today" this month. Local footage can also be seen at IHQ's short form platform Babayo.
