SEOUL, Sep. 10 (Yonhap) -- Toronto Blue Jays' starter Ryu Hyun-jin (34) is aiming for the 14th win of the Major League Baseball season against the Baltimore Orioles.

Ryu will play as a starter for the second game of a doubleheader at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore Maryland state in America on the 12th (KST) according to the Toronto Club in a game note Friday.

Ryu, who has won 13 victories against the New York Yankees with his perfect pitching of no loss for 6 innings, will be back on mound in 5 days to aim for the most winning tie for the season.

He has won 14 victories for 3 times in 2013~2014 and 2019 in the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Ryu has gained 3 victories against Baltimore this year. On Sep. 1, the left-hander collapsed against the club, after his continuing no-hitters with 3 losses in 5⅔ inning. This was his first loss against Baltimore.

If Ryu overcomes his recent loss against Baltimore in 11 days through the upcoming game, he will tie for most victories in the AL with Gerrit Cole of the New York Yankees.

After seeing his colleague Robbie Ray’s success, he threw a slider instead of a changeup which led to the team’s victory against the Yankees.

But he climbed down the mound after pitching 80 balls feeling stiffness on his arm for throwing many sliders which was not his usual skill.

If his arm’s condition is not bad, it seems that Ryu will easily work out their way to a victory at the doubleheader which will be held for 7 innings. The pitcher has played strong at Camden Yards marking 2 wins and no loss for the season and ERA 1.50.
