SEOUL April 7 (Yonhap) -- Japanese animation movie “Suzume” is expected to exceed over 4 million audiences throughout the upcoming weekend.
According to the data provided by the integrated network of movie tickets by the Korean Film Council on Friday, “Suzume” which premiered on March 8 successfully exceeded over 3.93 million audiences by Thursday. Given the fact that over 580 thousand audiences have watched the movie throughout the previous weekend the movie is expected to exceed in total of 4 million audiences by the upcoming weekend.
“Suzume” has managed to guard is place on top of the South Korean box office since it premiered. As of Friday, the movie managed to top the reservation rate amongst all the other films being screened by recording in total of 28.1 percent in reservation rate.
The movie depicts a story of female protagonist Suzume embarking on a life changing adventure to close the gates of disasters.
If “Suzume” manages to exceed over 4 million audiences by the weekend, it will be the second Japanese movie to have exceed the record of 4 million audiences, following the lead of “The First Slam Dunk” which is a remake version of the animation “Slam Dunk” from 1990s.
Continuing on, movies which depict stories regarding basketball will be attracting and appealing to its audiences who visit the theaters throughout the weekend for the first time since it premiered.
South Korean movie “Rebound” which depicts a real life story of Jungang High school which stormed the scene of Basketball Competition, and the movie about how the famous basketball shoes branch “Air Jordan” of Nike came to be “AIR” which premiered on April 5 has successfully landed as second and third on South Korean box office.
“The First Slam Dunk” which is continuing on with its success streak was placed on 5th within the list, as a result in total of three Basketball movies have landed within the S.Korean box office.
