'Lovely Runner' Sound Tracks Fly High on Music Charts amid Show's Popularity

SEOUL, June 4 (Yonhap) -- The original soundtrack (OST) of the tvN drama 'Lovely Runner' is experiencing a resurgence on the charts, driven by the drama's popularity. According to data released by the music platform Melon through 'Data Lab' on the 4th, the OST 'Shower' has steadily climbed the music charts a month after its release.

'Lovely Runner' is a romantic comedy drama that follows high school student Im Sol, who travels back in time to prevent the death of top star Ryu Sun-jae. The show garnered significant attention and concluded on the 28th of last month.

The OST 'Shower', sung by actor Byun Woo-seok (who plays Ryu Sun-jae), initially did not receive much attention when it was released on April 8th. However, its popularity surged after being featured in the ending scene on May 6th. The song entered the weekly chart at 22nd place in the second week of May, then broke into the top 10 in the following week, and reached 7th place in the fourth week, continuing its ascent.

The streaming count for 'Shower' also spiked notably starting from May 6th. It recorded 16,000 streams immediately after its release on April 8th, but after the May 6th broadcast, it surged to approximately 360,000 streams.

Another OST, 'It Seems That Way' by Yoo Hoi-seung, entered the weekly chart at 76th place in the third week of May and soared to 45th place in the daily chart on May 22nd.

OSTs from previously concluded dramas continue to be popular as well. The OST 'Sorry, I Hate You, I Love You' by Crush from the drama 'Queen of Tears', which ended in April, reached 5th place on the 'Top 100' chart as of May 23rd, with a cumulative streaming count of 16.8 million.
