SEOUL, June 7 (Yonhap) -- Peggy Gou, the globally renowned DJ and music producer based in Europe, has released her first full-length album titled 'I Hear You' on June 7, according to her label XL Recordings.
The album marks her debut after eight years in the music industry since her first mini-album 'Art of War' in 2016.
XL Recordings noted that Peggy Gou oversaw the entire album production as the main performer, composer, lyricist, producer, and mixing engineer. The label highlighted that she has crafted a sound that is both nostalgically evocative and thrillingly futuristic, influenced by her extensive study of electronic music legends.
Born in Incheon and moving to London at 15 for her studies, Peggy Gou began her music career while attending London College of Fashion. 'I Hear You' features ten tracks, including the festival-aimed '1+1=11', last summer's global hit '(It Goes Like) Nanana', a sophisticated house-pop collaboration with Lenny Kravitz titled 'I Believe in Love Again', and 'Seoulsi Peggygou', which samples the sound of the traditional Korean instrument, gayageum.
Peggy Gou explained that the album title 'I Hear You' transcends the simple act of listening to music, emphasizing the importance of truly hearing and considering others' perspectives. She added, "The message is about listening to others before expressing one's own thoughts or opinions, even if one doesn't necessarily agree."
To celebrate the album's release, Peggy Gou will host a major solo concert for 25,000 people in the UK this August. Additionally, a pop-up event is being held from today until June 20 at The Hyundai Seoul's basement level 2, where fans can purchase the album on vinyl and other merchandise.
