SEOUL, Apr. 19 (Yonhap) -- Emily Bronte’s wild, passionate classic novel “Wuthering Heights,” which skillfully portrays the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, will be adapted into a Korean-language play.
This play adaptation will be put on the stage of Seoul’s Dream Art Center from April 23 to June 18, Double K Entertainment, represented by veteran actor Kim Soo-ro, confirmed Tuesday.
Emily Bronte’s novel was first adapted into a Korean-language play in 2021. The play received rave reviews with actors graphically capturing the emotional turmoil of a man who executes revenge after losing his lover.
Moon Kyung-cho and Kim A-ron have been slated to play the role of Heathcliff, the male protagonist to whom Catherine is the sole reason to continue living, while Kang Hye-in, Heo Hye-jin, and Lee Da-eun have been confirmed to perform on stage as Catherine Earnshaw, who stands between two men.
Lee Jung-hwa and Jeon Jae-hee will suit up as Nelly, the nanny who looks after Heathcliff and Catherine; in the meantime, Min Kyung-seok and Kim Gun-ho will play Catherine’s brother Hindley Earnshaw; Lee Han-sol and Ryu Seung-hyun have been set to play Edgar Linton; last but not least, Kim Su-ro and Park Se-dong have been cast for the role of Joseph, the butler.
South Korean actor Kim Soo-ro, who now represents Double K Entertainment, has made himself known by starring in multiple hit television series and films, including “A Gentleman’s Dignity,” “Master of Study,” and “Woori the Virgin.”
