SEOUL, Mar. 29 (Yonhap) – S. Korean actress Chun Woo-hee will transform into a news anchor at a broadcasting company through the film “Anchor,” which will be released on Apr. 20.
Chun said at an online press conference on Mar. 28, "I've played a lot of aspirants, university graduates, and interns so far," adding, "I was very attracted by the fact that my role as a news anchor is a professional woman."
“Anchor,” which is directed by director Jung Ji-yeon, is a thriller that depicts the story of a star news anchor who receives a call signaling a murder and covers the incident herself to break a scoop.
It is director Jung’s first feature film, and it started with the idea of displaying the other side of a successful woman.
Se-ra, played by Chun Woo-hee, is a perfectionist who took an elite course and does not afford any mistakes as a nine o'clock news anchor.
Chun emphasized that she cut her hair short and practiced her voice and posture as an announcer to portray an image of a cold-hearted character.
However, Se-ra, who was striving for perfection, undergoes an agitated emotional change after getting involved in mysterious incidents and meeting a new character.

Shin Ha-kyun plays the role of In-ho, a family doctor of the victim and an informant who made a call to report the murder case, and works with Chun Woo-hee in the work. In-ho is a hypnotist and psychiatrist who confuses the viewers as to whether he is good or bad in the film.
Shin said, "I was so excited that Chun Woo-hee played the role of a news anchor," adding, "I was also attracted to my role because it was a job that is hard to come in contact in reality.”
He explained regarding In-ho, "The audience will wonder if he is a person who struggles to cure patients or a person who is directly related to the case," adding, "I played the character without expressing much emotion to depict a mysterious and suspicious role."
Middle-aged actress Lee Hye-young, who is currently starring in the drama "Kill Heel," played So-jeong, Se-ra's mother. She is a single mother who cannot think of her own life separately from that of her daughter.
