SEOUL, Mar. 11 (Yonhap) -- The long-awaited spring festivals are returning in Busan after the global COVID-19 pandemic.
The Gangseo Nakdonggang River Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from Mar. 31 to Apr. 2 in the Daejeo Ecological Park area in the Gangseo District in the city of Busan, the Busan Metropolitan Government confirmed Saturday.
The Festival, which marks its sixth anniversary this year, will showcase the full-blown 2,000 cherry blossoms along the riverside for about 12 kilometers.
In the meantime, night landscape lighting will be installed on the cherry blossom road on the banks of the Nakdong River to create an elegant scenery from Mar. 30 to Apr. 7.
The Busan Nakdonggang River Rape Flower Festival will return in four years and will be held from Apr. 8 to 16. The Festival has been put on hold after plowing down the rape blossoms field due to concerns over the spread of COVID-19 in 2020. In commemoration of its return, more diverse and exciting events, including performances, participatory experience events, and food trucks, will also be organized for this year’s Rape Flower Festival.
In addition, the Geungjeong-gu Yunsan Cherry Blossom Festival will be held at the city’s Seodong Library on Mar. 26. Meanwhile, the eye-catching Ssang-gu Samrak Cherry Blossom Festival will also be showcased on Apr. 1 along the Samrak Cherry Blossom Road in Nakdongjebang.
Ahead of these spectacular spring festivals, the Busan Metropolitan Government recently created a “Spring Flower Map” with spring flower attractions, including the cherry blossom tunnel along the Maekdo Ecological Park, Busan Democratic Park where cherry blossoms will be full-blown, Hwangnyeongsan Cherry Blossom Road, and Oryukdo Sunrise Park with daffodils and rape blossoms.
Flowers are expected to bloom around Mar. 28, according to data released by the Korea Meteorological Administration.
