SEOUL, Sep. 9 (Yonhap) -- “YAHOO,” made by Yoon Tae-ho cartoonist, will be produced into a drama.
A drama production based on Yoon’s “YAHOO” has been confirmed, according to the producer Hive Media Corp. Thursday.
The webtoon, featured on a comics magazine “Booking” during 1998~2002, is an SF action about two youngsters Kim Hyeon and Shin Mu-hack who joined, the capital security, a virtual special forces. The story’s time is from days of the 5th Republic to 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea/Japan.
It shocked the Korean comics scene re-examining the incidents and accidents happened in Korea through the friendship and growth of the two youngsters going through a period of chaos and worries about the future.
“It has made a grand finale to the era of comic magazines,” “It has opened the new horizon of the Korean comics for adults.”
The comics received positive comments receiving “Our Comics Today Awards” (translated) given by Ministry of Culture&Tourism.
Won Shin-yun, director of the films “Seven Days,” “The Suspect,” “Rampant” and “Battle of Fengwudong,” will be the director.
Earlier, Yoon’s webtoons “Moss” and “Inside Men” have been made into films as well.
Hive Media Corp. is the producer of “Inside Men” as well as last year’s box office rank No.1 and 2 “The Man Standing Next” and “Deliver Us From Evil.”
