SEOUL, Nov. 27 (Yonhap) -- "I’m trying to stop the game."
Having once survived the deadly games and claimed the 45.6 billion prize, Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) returns to the sinister world—not to win this time, but to end the game for good.
Netflix’s newly released main trailer for Squid Game: Season 2, unveiled on the 27th, reveals Gi-hun’s motive for re-entering the games. He petitions the organizers to let him participate again, taking up his old participant number, 456. Unlike before, he now seeks to unite the desperate players, who are just as financially strained as he once was.
Gi-hun attempts to explain the rules, encourage collective action, and even proposes ending the game early to divide the prize money. However, the players, blinded by greed, make it nearly impossible to steer them away from the violent path of mutual destruction.
Tensions escalate between Gi-hun and the enigmatic Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun). While the Front Man coldly remarks, "The game won’t stop unless the world changes," Gi-hun defiantly counters, declaring, "We must fight the creators of the game."

This fiery resolve ties back to a teaser released earlier, where a frustrated voice asked Gi-hun, "Why have you crawled back here?"
The trailer also introduces new characters and intense scenarios. Big Bang member and actor Choi Seung-hyun (T.O.P), whose casting sparked early controversy, plays a villainous role. In the iconic Red Light, Green Light game, he shoves a fellow contestant off balance, grinning maliciously as he declares “Freeze” only to follow it with “Go” to disrupt the game.
Other players include gambling debtor Yong-sik (Yang Dong-geun) and his mother Geum-ja (Kang Ae-shim), sharing an uneasy conversation about their debt, and cryptocurrency YouTuber Myung-ki (Im Si-wan), alongside Jun-hee (Jo Yu-ri), who harbors icy resentment over financial losses.

The trailer also teases expansive new sets and games, such as contestants riding a massive carousel and standing before a rainbow-colored line on a playground. Following the incorporation of traditional Korean games like Red Light, Green Light and marbles in Season 1, anticipation builds over what director Hwang Dong-hyuk has devised for this installment.
Squid Game: Season 2 will premiere on December 26.
