SEOUL, April 1 (Yonhap) -- Ryu Hyun-jin (35), who has been the Opening Day starter of the Toronto Blue Jays in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) for the past two years, will be the No. 3 starter this season.
Blue Jays’ manager Charlie Montoyo announced on Friday (KST) that Jose Berrios will be the Opening Day starter, and Kevin Gausman, Ryu Hyun-jin, Alek Manoah, and Yusei Kikuchi are scheduled to follow Berrios.
Ryu, who moved to Toronto in 2019 when he was with the LA Dodgers and played as a starter for the opening game for three consecutive years until 2020 and last year, will take the mound in the last game of the three consecutive home games against Texas on April 11.
Opening Day starter Berrios joined Toronto from the Minnesota Twins through trade-in July last year, and No.2 starter Gausman played for the San Francisco Giants until last year.
