Virtual Korean tour in China's popular game, "aiming for the local gen MZ"

SEOUL, Aug. 30 (Yonhap) -- A VR (Virtual Reality) feature to experience Korean tour aiming for the Chinese gen MZ (1980s~2000s birth) has been added in “Audition,” a South Korean mobile game widely loved in China, according to Korea Tourism Organization Monday.

The VR rhythm dance game has gained huge popularity with 550 million accumulative downloads in China.

The tourism organization revealed dubbed “Korean Dance Room,” a virtual space with South Korea’s COEX Convention & Exhibition Center on the background on the 26th. Users can enjoy various tour attractions such as Gamcheon Culture Village, Jeongdongjin and Jeju Island through the LED board on the COEX building.

The organization will open a K-pop dance contest from September 17th to October 8th.

“We decided that metaverse will be the suitable platform for marketing strategies aiming for the main users of ‘Audition,’ the gen MZ who are in their 10~20s and are familiar to mobile environments,” explained the tourism organization.
