SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Yonhap) --KBS 2TV "Curtain Call" which depicts touching story of a family started off with around 7% of ratings in viewership.

According to the data by Nielson Korea on Tuesday, the first episode of "Curtain Call" starring Ha Ji-won, Kang Ha-neul, and Go Doo-shim, has recorded the viewership ratings of 7.2%.

The drama began in December 1950 when the Hungnam evacuation occurred and reproduced the horror and sorrow of those escaping during the Korean War.

Ja Geum-soon in her young days lost her husband and son while escaping. Geum-soon began selling rice soup at Yonan, Incheon and has become the chairman of Nakwon hotel with giant chain stores all over the place in 2020 but is terminally ill.

Ja Geum-soon with only has about 3 more months left missing her husband and son in the North made audiences feel emotional. The scene where Ja, who has been thinking of her family the whole time, meets her son and grandson at 4th separated family union in 2002 was tear jerkers.

However, the conflict between the youngest granddaughter Park Se-yeon (Ha Ji-won),who became a general manager of hotel, and oldest brotherPark Se-joon (Ji Seung-hyun) trying to sell the hotel added tension to the drama.

Meanwhile, Ja's right hand, Jeong Sang-cheol looked for the trace of her grandson Ri Moon-sung (Noh Sang-hyun) at detective agency. But it turns out grandson has grown up to be a problematic youth who do not mind committing crimes for the money. The story turned when dissapointed Jeong visits Yoo Jae-heon (Kang Ha-neul) who play as North Korea solider at a play and suggests him to 'act at the huge and beautiful stage that can change his life.'

The drama increased the immersion level of viewers by quickly unfolding the plot, which started from escaping during the Korean War to fighting between chaebols. Depiction of Ja's mournful family story in short and precise manner grabbed emotions of viewers.

Stable acting of great actors also highlighted each role's characteristics while a complicated relationship was going on. Go Doo-shim, Sung Dong-il, and Kang Ha-neul also naturally spoke North Korean accent.

The acting of Go Doo-shim and Park Se-yeon, each playing Ja Feum-soon who lived a tough life and Park Se-yeon who tries to protect the value of hotel, grandmother's inheritance, was well harmonized.

Two actors delicately played out as strong women who stick to their beliefs despite the hardships.
